Join Emily Johnson every Wednesday at 11:30 for Child’s Pose. This is a short program, ideal for children 2-5 years old. All programs are included with museum admission (good for all day- $6/child, $6/adult, free for members).
Child’s Pose will be run by guest teacher, Emily Johnson.
Emily is the mother of a lively 2 and 8-year-old and works full time as a home and community-based clinician for disadvantaged youth with behavioral challenges.
Emily attended yoga teacher training at the beautiful Shiva Shakti School of Yoga in Union, Maine in 2015. She has taught yoga at Family Violence Project as an offering for staff self-care, to a number of clients one on one, and more informally in the therapeutic context with the children with whom she works.
Emily particularly enjoys hatha yoga, a gentle, breath-linked form of yoga. She also is an enthusiastic fan of chanting; OHHHHMMM.
Emily believes that getting in touch with our bodies and our breathing is one of the most powerful ways that children and adults alike gain self-esteem, mastery over their emotions, and learn to live in the moment. Emily also appreciates the non-competitive nature of yoga, where participants are inspired to “focus on your own mat” while also enjoying being part of a positive collective endeavor.
